Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Remove the core from the cabbage and place the head in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes until leaves are pliable.
  3. Carefully remove the leaves and set aside to cool.
  4. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  5. In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion and garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  6. Take a cabbage leaf, place a spoonful of the filling at the base, fold sides over, and roll up tightly.
  7. Place the rolls seam side down in a baking dish.
  8. Pour tomato sauce and diced tomatoes over the rolls.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  10. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Notes

  • Use leftover rice for quicker preparation.
  • Adjust seasonings according to your taste.
  • These rolls can be frozen for later use.
